Over 200 Service Centers Begin to Issue New Florida Driver’s License and ID Cards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – More than 200 service centers are expected to begin issuing Florida’s new Driver’s License and Identification cards according to a press release issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

The release stated the Department will expand its release of the new over-the-counter credential card starting this month and will continue to add more than 200 remaining service centers through December throughout Florida.

In the statement, The Department’s Executive Director, Terry L. Rhodes stated, “We understand our customers’ credential is the most valuable item in their wallet. Through coordination with law enforcement, tax collectors, and our statewide partners, Florida’s new credential is the most secure over-the-counter credential on the market today, delivering enhanced security features, up-to-date technology, convenient designations and a design unique to the Sunshine State.”

The new card designs will include “nearly double the fraud protection measures” compared to previous designs including features such as double redundant data, ultraviolet ink, and optically variable features.
