4 Arrested in Fruitland Park for Meth Dealing and Running a Chop Shop

FRUITLAND PARK – Lake County deputies arrested 4 people in Fruitland Park early Tuesday morning after discovering the suspects were using their home as a chop shop and to deal methamphetamine according to a press release.

Deputies began their investigation after receiving a call from a Lady Lake woman who stated that her ATV that was stolen was located online being sold at a home on Eagle’s Nest Road in Fruitland Park.

When deputies arrived at the home to retrieve the ATV, other items at the home led them to believe there were more stolen items.

After receiving a search warrant, deputies raided the home and found several other ATV’s and golf carts that were stolen as well as some that were being dismantled.

During the search deputies also found an estimated 475 grams of methamphetamine and four firearms.

After finding a large quantity of drugs, along with the stolen property, detectives arrested 45-year-old John Migan.

Migan was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, dealing in stolen property, operating a chop shop, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he is currently being held in lieu of a $165,500 bond.

Also arrested was 18-year-old Faith Cox who was charged with providing a false name to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and within 1000 feet of a church, and trafficking in methamphetamine. She is currently being held at the Lake County Jail in lieu of a $117,000 bond.

34-year-old Jolena Aviles was also arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on a $111,000 bond.

The fourth person arrested was 32-year-old Shawn Rutig who was charged with Possession of methamphetamine, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also being held at the Lake County Jail on a $21,000 bond.
