Sumter County Attorney Takes the Bench in 5th Judicial Circuit Judge

Mary Hatcher, a Sumter County attorney, won yesterday’s election for the judgeship of the 5th Judicial Circuit which covers Sumter, Lake, Marion, Hernando and Citrus counties.

She defeated her opponent, Inverness attorney Denise Dymond Lyn in the elections Tuesday night with 199,270 votes from all five counties.

According to Florida Election Watch, final results were:

Denise A. Dymond Lyn 40.91%

Mary Hatcher 59.09%

In a post on Mary Hatcher’s Faceboook Fan Page, she writes:

We did it! We secured victory and won because of you. The citizens of the Fifth Judicial Circuit have put their trust in me, and I will make you proud. Our message resonated with voters across the Circuit. We invested early and continued until the end with amazing staffers, volunteers and contributors. We built an unprecedented team- allowing us to reach voters in 5 counties and equip a winning grassroots campaign. I want to thank you for voting, volunteering and contributing to make this possible.

The Fifth Circuit Judge’s seat is based in Inverness, Florida at the Citrus County Courthouse. Circuit judges serve a term of six years and are paid on average a $146,080 yearly salary.
