Sumter Deputies Rushed to Villages Regional Hospital

Two Sumter County Deputies were rushed the The Villages Regional Hospital after being injured while responding to a call in The Villages.

Deputies L. Thompson, 33, and A. Glayzer, 26 were traveling on County Road 124A Near US 301 with sirens and emergency lights activated just after 8 pm on Saturday when a Lexus driven by 62-year-old Villages resident, Jonathan L. Turk pulled out in front of them causing their patrol car to collide with the Lexus.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Thompson was rushed to The Villages Regional Hospital. Thompson’s passenger, Deputy Glayzer, was also taken to The Villages Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Turk suffered minor injuries as well and was also transported to The Villages Region Hospital. According the the Florida Highway Patrol’s report, Turk failed to noticed the patrol car.

Turk was ticketed for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
