If you are craving an authentic Cuban Sandwich, unpack your bags. You do not have to travel to Tampa or Miami anymore. You can now enjoy the great flavors of Cuba right here in Central Florida. Inverness to be exact.
Cuban couple, Al and Mabel Izquierdo recently opened Las Delicias Cubanas, serving authentic Cuban dishes, pastries and sandwiches located at 110 US Hwy 41 in Historic Downtown Inverness.
What was once an abandoned Citgo station that sat vacant across from the Inverness courthouse, has become a popular and favorite spot for locals to stop in and treat their taste buds to some of Cuba’s authentic dishes, sandwiches, and delicacies.
Though the authentic Cuban Sandwich is their most popular menu item with their Media Noche rounding in at second, this hidden gem serves a great selection of other Cuban treats. Since opening their doors in November, their dishes and pastries have caught the attention of many natives and the word is spreading about their great menu items like their Ropa Vieja which translates to “Old Clothes”. Don’t let the name fool you though, this Cuban version of shredded flank steak is seasoned perfectly and served with rice, beans and their juicy yuca.
The flavors have spread through Inverness and since and business has picked up ever since an article was published in the Chronicle. And people agree, this is the “..best Cuban food” around.
