TAVARES – Robert Wolfe, the mayor of Tavares, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with insurance fraud.
Wolfe was under investigation by the Florida Department of Financial Services who gave their results to the State Attorney’s office, according to an official. Based on the results of the investigation, the State Attorney’s office issued an arrest warrant for Wolfe.
Wolfe was taken into custody Wednesday night and is currently being held on a $2,000 bond.
No other details of this arrest have been made public.
Wolfe was previously arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in a dwelling back in May. In that incident, Wolfe’s wife accused him of firing a gun
in their bedroom during an argument.
