Fruitland Park Man Arrested for Child Pornography

FRUITLAND PARK – A Fruitland Park man was arrested for possession of child pornography following an undercover internet investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcemnet (FDLE).

FDLE Task Force Agents initiated an undercover investigation in the Central Florida area on June 13, 2016. During the investigation, a computer suspected of containing 51 files of child pornography was traced back to the home of 23-year-old Cameron Robert Martinez at Spring Lake Cove Apartments in Fruitland Park.

Agents obtained a search warrant for Martinez’s home and executed the warrant on July 27. Martinez was present during the search.

When questioned about the child pornography, Martinez admitted that he had been downloading child pornography for about a year because he was bored with normal pornography stating, “Normal porn is eh” so he decided to give child pornography “a shot”.

Martinez also admitted that he had stopped for a while but started downloading the files again “out of boredom”.

When FDLE forensic agents searched his computer, they found 4 files containing pornography with children between the ages of 6 and 13.

Martinez was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail on 4 felony counts of possession of child pornography.

Despite the arresting FDLE Agent’s request to hold Martinez without bond due to the nature of the charges, Martinez was released less than three hours later after posting an $8,000 bond.

Martinez is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment hearing on August 22, 2016.

The arresting FDLE Agent also requested in his arrest report that Martinez’s pre-trial release include stipulations that Martinez shall have no contact with anyone under the age of 18, have no access to or possession of any computer or cellular device that is capable of internet access, have no use of the internet for any reason and cannot possess any firearm.
