We may not have the colorful leaves and chilly nights that Northerners are so fond of, but Fall in Central Florida means there are dozens of festivals and activities to choose from. These are just a few of the most popular!
From October 3rd through December 19th you’ll want to be sure to stop at Long and Scott’s Famous Corn Maze. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am – 5pm. Get there before 3pm though as that’s the last admission sold. Activities include a 6 acre Corn Maze, 1 acre Mini Corn Maze, 3 acre Tree Maze, 60 ft. Super Slide, Jumping Pillow , Zip Line for Kids, Rock Maze, Mist Maze, Rope Maze, Playground, covered picnic areas and access to Food Vendors. The 42nd Annual Mount Dora Bicycle Festival rolls into town Oct 7-9, with fourteen routes to choose from, guest speakers and 1500 spots for riders to join in the fun and competition. For details visit http://mountdorabicyclefestival.com
On October 8th Tavares will be rockin’ as “Rocktoberfest” takes over Wooten Park from 5pm to Midnight. The event features a Street Party, live music from Blue Stone Circle and Hypersona, lots of German food, and a Jeep show. Admission is free and sponsor proceeds benefit the Tavares High School band programs for 2016.
Oct 14th-16th it is the 5th Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival in Leesburg, where you’ll find more than 100 activities and programs over three days and feature more than 25 birding, wildflower and nature experts. the festival is designed to bring awareness and appreciation of Lake County’s quality of life and support environmental initiatives for all lake County residents. If you are looking for a little more nostalgic time-traveling fun, also on October 15-16, it’s the 5th Annual Steampunk Industrial Show at Renninger’s Antique and Flea Market. Come join the Victorian-Style Industrial Festival with Steampunk artists, vendors, costumers, and live music, and be sure to stay around all evening for their latest addition- the Steampunk Ball! October 22nd and 23rd Its the Mount Dora Craft Fair.
