TAVARES – Best Buddies, a non-profit organization geared toward helping people with intellectual disabilities, will host their annual Quater Mania auction fundraiser in Tavares this year.
According to their mission statement, Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global movement of volunteers to help create opportunities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Some of the opportunities include one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development.
Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization that helps to end the social, physical and economic isolation of over 200 million people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
This year, they will host their annual Quarter Mania auction to help raise funds to support their cause.
The auction, which consists of items provided by businesses and independent consultants such as Scentsy, doTERRA, Trades of Hope, Origami Owl, Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, LuLaRue, Plexus, Posh, USBorne, IT Works, and many more, will be held at the Tavares Civic Center located at 100 East Caroline Street in Tavares on October 20th from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm.
Tickets for the auction will be $5 per ticket. Each ticket will receive an auction paddle. When buyers find an item they want to bid on, they can put up their paddle and place a bid using quarters. The quarters used to bid are based on the item’s value as follows:
- 1 quarter = $1 – $25
- 2 quarters = $26 – $50
- 3 quarters = $51 – $75
- 4 quarters = $76 – $100
Buyers can purchase extra paddles to bid on more items for an additional $5 per paddle.
All proceeds raised will benefit the Best Buddies organization which you can learn more about by visiting their website at www.bestbuddies.org
