TAVARES – Lake County is celebrating their first “Mobility Week” this year from October 28 through November 5 by hosting events with the Lake County Transit Division to help promote safe alternatives for traveling other than driving.
In a statement released by the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Tomika Monterville, Public Transit Division Manager said, “We are excited to participate in Mobility Week with a number of activities around the county to promote public transportation and active lifestyles.”
The Lake County Transit will offer free training on how to properly secure bicycles on a LakeXpress bus during the 11th Annual “Stuff the Bus” food drive on Saturday, October 29 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Eustis Publix located at 2840 David Walker Drive.
Residents will also receive free bus rides throughout the day on October 31 for LakeXpress’ fixed route service.
The Lake County Transit division will also be handing out “swag bags” with promotional items at the citizens Boulevard Transfer Location in Leesburg as well as Lake Tech in Eustis, and at the Clermont Park-n-Ride Lot between 6:30 am – 9:00 am and between 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm.
Residents are encouraged to take a pledge to try a new mode of transportation in support of Mobility Week’s theme, “What move’s you?”. Residents can take the pledge by going to www.mobilityweek.com
