LEESBURG – A family is seeking help to raise money to cover funeral costs after the unexpected death of their family member due to an accident in Leesburg on Thursday.
William “Robert” Ward was riding his motorcycle on US Hwy 441 in Leesburg when he stopped to allow a Treadway Elementary School bus to load children at a bus stop. While stopped, Ward was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old woman from Leesburg.
Ward was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center with serious injuries where he later passed away.
Ward’s family members set up a GoFundMe account to help raise funds to cover the unexpected costs of a funeral.
“William ‘Robbie’ Ward was a husband and a father of a 7-year-old son named RJ, a 4-year-old daughter named Zoey, and a 2-year-old daughter named Gabbie,” Ward’s brother-in-law wrote in the GoFundMe campaign.
Their goal of $9.700 will help cover the costs of a proper burial, according to the GoFundMe post.
In the first two hours of the campaign, the family was able to raise $275 of their goal. They are hoping to raise the rest of the funds in time for Ward’s funeral.
