LEESBURG – Leesburg Police officers are seeking two suspects involved in the armed robbery of a Dollar General in Leesburg Sunday night.
According to police reports, officers responded to the Dollar General located at 27701 US Highway 27 in south Leesburg at 10:42 pm.
The report stated that two employees had already closed the store and were getting ready to leave for the night when the incident occurred.
One employee opened the doors to leave which is when two black males approached him and put a gun to his head and ordered him back into the store.
The suspects then demanded that the employee put the money from the safe into a trash bag.
The second employee attempted to run from the suspects to the back of the store, however, the second suspect grabbed the employee and escorted her back to the front of the store.
The suspects then grabbed the trash bag with an undisclosed amount of cash and the employees’ cell phones and fled the store.
Police arrived on the scene and attempted to track the suspects with the help of a K9 officer.
After canvassing the area, police and K9 officers were unable to locate the suspects.
The suspects are described as being both black males in their twenties or thirties. The suspect with the gun was wearing a black mask. The second suspect was wearing gray jogging pants and dark clothing. Both suspects are estimated to be about six feet tall.
