Nail Polish Thieves Struck Before, Stole Almost $900 Worth

OCALA – Two suspects wanted for the theft of 112 nail polish bottles at a Silver Springs Shores Wal-Mart were at it before.

The female suspect was caught on camera filling her purse with the bottles of nail polish on December 7 while the male suspect acted as a lookout.

During that incident, the suspects managed to escape in a dark-colored sedan with $976.64 worth of stolen nail polish according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

However, a Facebook post published on December 14 shows that it was not the first time this couple had stolen before.

According to a post on the Ocala Police Department’s fan page, the same suspects were caught on camera at the Wal-Mart located on SW 19th Avenue Road in Ocala on December 2.

During that theft, the suspects made off with an estimated $898.16.

The suspects were caught on camera leaving the same vehicle in both incidents.

A source that works at a Wal-Mart told us that the chain has seen an increase in returns on cosmetics without purchase receipts, nail polish being one of the main items returned without receipts.

The store return policy allows customers to receive store credit on a gift card for returns of unopened items without a receipt.

The bottles of nail polish stolen in the first theft averaged to a little over $8 per bottle.

Ocala Police and Marion County Deputies are asking anyone who has information on the identity or whereabouts of the above-pictured subjects to contact Detective Sirolli with the Ocala Police Department at (352)368-5405, Detective Stephen Juliano with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at (352)402-6000, or you can report it anonymously by calling Ocala Crime Stoppers at (352)368-STOP.
