TAVARES — During the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, Lake County Solid Waste’s residential collection services for unincorporated county residents will operate as normal due to the holidays falling on weekends.
Except for bulk items, any excess trash, either bagged or placed into a non-county trash cart, will be accepted on regular collection days between Monday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Jan. 6, only.
Haulers handle Christmas trees under the same criteria as yard waste and will collect them on days that yard waste is normally picked up. Alternately, Christmas trees can be dropped off at the convenience centers and Lake County’s Central Solid Waste Facility, located at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares. Trees should be free of ornaments and tinsel.
To request collection of bulk trash, such as furniture, appliances, and other large household items, residents should notify the hauler directly for service. Haulers have 72 hours, excluding weekends or holidays, to fulfill the request. No hazardous waste items will be collected.
