GROVELAND – A 3-year-old boy who was attacked by a pit bull Wednesday afternoon is reportedly in stable condition.
According to Groveland Chief of Police, Todd English, the boy and his mother opened the gate to a neighbor’s home near Savage Way to visit another dog when the boy was attacked.
The child received “extensive injuries to his neck and back of his head” during the attack.
The child was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he was later reported as being in stable, non-life-threatening condition.
Groveland Police along with the Lake County Animal Services are currently investigating the incident.
No charges have been filed at this time. More information will be released as soon as it is made available.
