LEESBURG— The Lake County Probation Services Division, in cooperation with Goodwill Job Connection Center and Partners Investing in People, will host its annual Community Resource and Career Fair on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Venetian Gardens Community Center, located at 109 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg.
The free event brings together over 40 agencies and employers to aid citizens seeking various forms of self-improvement opportunities. Services and information provided at the event will include employment, education, health care, insurance, drivers’ licenses, substance abuse recovery, transportation, legal aid, housing services, victim assistance, veteran services, mental health services and more. Numerous employers will also be on site to accept applications for current and future job openings.
The event is open to the general public, but will also focus on tackling the barriers individuals face when re-entering the community from incarceration, such as employment, financial, housing and family issues, and identify ways that private and public partners may help provide needed resources.
“Government agencies cannot single-handedly solve all of the critical problems within our community,” said Tony Deaton, Lake County’s Chief Probation Officer. “By partnering with various non-profit agencies, we are able to empower citizens to become more productive members of society, thereby reducing the likelihood they will re-offend in the future.”
