Local manufacturing business donates $100,000 in engines to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing

LEESBURG — Lake County Economic Development is proud to announce a partnership it has brokered between PowerTech Generators, a Leesburg-based business, and Lake Technical College’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM).

In working closely with both the business and the college, Economic Development coordinators connected the two with the goal of helping PowerTech gain skilled employees, while also allowing the businesses a mechanism to give back to the community. In fulfilling this commitment, earlier this month PowerTech donated five diesel engines valued at more than $100,000 to the CAM and the Diesel Mechanic program. The donation will allow students to train on these specialized machines at little to no cost to the school.

The CAM will provide future workforce training in the fields of computerized machining, welding, and fabrication, and is set to be one of the premier workforce training facilities in Central Florida.

PowerTech is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of mobile diesel generators, including marine generators, worldwide military projects, and gas/diesel-electric vehicles. The research team at PowerTech continues to experiment, improve and develop more fuel-efficient generators with a goal to develop the ultimate in environmentally friendly products that will be at the forefront of reduced noise and emissions control. PowerTech products are distributed worldwide from Leesburg and supported through a distributor and service dealer network.
