Marion County Fire Claims 53-year-old Woman

OCALA – A fire that broke out at home on Bahia Trace Court in Ocala Friday morning is to blame for the death of a 53-year-old woman according to the Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR).

Firefighters arrived at the home shortly after receiving a 911 call from a caller who stated she opened the front door and “heavy smoke started rolling out”.

The caller told dispatchers that her mother was still in the home at the time.

Responders arrived at approximately 10:40 am and worked tirelessly to battle the blaze.

Emergency personnel was able to get the woman out of the home, however, she was declared deceased on scene.

Officials are unsure of what caused the fire, stating it is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s office at this time.

According to the MCFR, the fire was called under control at 10:55 am.
