SUMMERFIELD – A convenience store located at 14501 South US Highway 301 in Summerfield will be closed while the owners repair the damaged caused after a 24-year-old woman ran her car into the building.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Erica Jean Shaw was traveling eastbound on CR-475A (Charity Road) approaching the stop sign at US 301 just after 2:00 am Saturday morning when she failed to stop at the stop sign and continued through the intersection and into the building.
Shaw’s vehicle came to rest approximately 40 feet inside the building.
Troopers say the business suffered extensive structural damage and will be closed temporarily until repairs can be made.
According to the report, Troopers suspect alcohol may have been the cause but have not received blood testing results at this time.
Shaw will be facing charges pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
