Three suspects charged in string of vehicle burglaries

CLERMONT – Three suspects dressed in all black and carrying backpacks were arrested early Friday morning after police reportedly discovered the trio had burglarized several vehicles in Clermont.

According to a Clermont police press release, officers responded to the area of Verde Ridge about 3:25 a.m. to a “suspicious persons” call of a group fitting the description and walking in the neighborhood.

Clermont police Sgt. Shane Strickland said the three fled at the sight of officers, but were captured quickly. Investigators determine the group was responsible for at least four vehicle burglaries in the 300 blocks of Dagama Drive and Giovani Boulevard that included the theft mainly of small amounts of cash and change and various credit and gift cards. A watch also was taken.

All three juveniles were charged with burglary and released to their parents.

Strickland added detectives are trying to determine if there were more vehicle burglaries.
