LEESBURG, Fla – An attempted child abduction at Carver Middle School was reported Tuesday, October 17.
An eleven-year-old girl told police she was at the walker’s gate of the school around 4 p.m. when a man pulled up in his vehicle, opened the passenger side door, and tried to usher her into the vehicle.
The suspect sped off into the Beecher Street neighborhoods when he saw her pull out her cell phone, according to the victim.
The vehicle is reported to be a two-door black Ford pickup truck with gray leather seats. There was an oval-shaped bumper sticker on the back and a silver toolbox in the bed of the pickup.
The man is described as being a tanned white male with short black hair and a graying goatee. He was of average build with visibly muscled arms, with a “blurry and badly done” tattoo, possibly a dragon, visible on one bicep. He was wearing a black sleeveless shirt and black pants.

UPDATE: Following the report made by the student and her family, police increased security at the school October 18. The investigation has been forwarded to the CID with no further action taken at this time.
