TAVARES, Fla – The Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA, has announced it will be opening a mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for Lake County residents and businesses.
The DRC is intended to help residents and business owners affected by Hurricane Irma. Opening Thursday October 19, the DRC will be at the Lake County Extension Office. This office is located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
Hours on opening day will be from 1 p.m to 8 p.m. From Friday October 20 to Monday October 23, the mobile center will be open from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.
County Manager Jeff Cole has stated that the county has been working closely with FEMA since Hurricane Irma swept through the area in September. “We appreciate that FEMA has agreed to establish a center here to provide a one-stop-shop of services to our residents and business owners,” Cole says.
Services available at the mobile center include federal disaster assistance, low-interest loans for homeowners and businesses through the U.S. Small Business Administration and crisis counseling.
For further information, residents and business owners can call Lake County’s Office of Emergency Management at (352) 343-9420.
