Leesburg Celebrates Florida City Government Week

LEESBURG, Fla – During the week of October 23 through October 29, Leesburg will be joining with other Florida cities in the celebration of Florida City Government Week.

City government is the government closest to its citizens. It is important for residents to understand how our city operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement. The statewide theme this year is My City: I’m Part of it, I’m Proud of it. To celebrate, Mayor Bone signed a proclamation marking October 23-29 as Florida City Government Week in Leesburg.

As part of the celebration, the production crew of Lakefront TV asked citizens and local government leaders to share their thoughts about what makes Leesburg great. Interested citizens can view some of the video clips of their fellow residents giving their thoughts on what makes Leesburg a great city at LakeFront TV’s YouTube channel.

A “What Makes Leesburg Great” photo contest remains underway. Residents can share their photos on the City of Leesburg Facebook page under the “Photo Contest” tab; via the City of Leesburg website; or by emailing their photos to Derek Hudson, Leesburg’s public information officer, at http://Derek.Hudson@leesburgflorida.gov/.
