OCALA — Floria Highway Patrol Troopers arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident according to reports.
Troopers responded to the intersection of State Road 200 and SW 88th Terrace just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning in reference to a traffic crash.
When troopers arrived, they discovered the victim deceased. Troopers believed the suspect struck the pedestrian with a white 2008-2011 Nissan Frontier pickup truck before leaving the scene.
Troopers later located the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle, 81-year-old Frederick Welde, at which time he was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, a felony in the state of Florida.
Welde was transported to the Marion County Jail where he is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
