WEIRSDALE, Fla. — A fiery crash ended with one dead in Weirsdale on Sunday morning according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on County Road 42 near the intersection of SE 122nd Terrace where they found a 2016 Honda Fit engulfed in fire.
According to the report, the driver was traveling eastbound on CR 42 when for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off of the paved portion of the road.
After leaving the roadway, the vehicle began to spin and eventually struck a tree causing the vehicle to erupt into flames.
Responders with Marion County Fire Rescue managed to extinguish the flames, however, at approximately 3:12 a.m. the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
The identity of the driver is currently being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
