Belleview Woman Dies in Suwanee County Crash

SUWANEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 42-year-old Belleview woman was pronounced dead after a collision in Suwanee County near the intersection of US Highway 129 and 112th Street according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, the woman was traveling as a passenger in a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire heading southbound on US Highway 129 coming up on the intersection of 112th street at approximately 3:26 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

At the same time, a 2001 Chevy Silverado hauling a trailer was traveling behind the Sunfire headed southbound on US Highway 129.

44-year-old Juan Rodriguez, the driver of the Sunfire slowed and came to a stop to turn left onto 112th Street waiting for a vehicle to pass in the northbound lane when the driver of the Silverado failed to slow down or stop and struck the Sunfire from behind.

The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to spin counter clockwise into the northbound lane and subsequently collided with the oncoming vehicle.

Rodriguez suffered serious injuries during the collision and was transported to Shands Hospital.

The unidentified victim was pronounced deceased at the scene due to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle traveling northbound suffered minor injuries and the driver of the Silverado reported no injuries.

Troopers are still investigating the incident and no charges have been filed at this time.

Troopers have not released the name of the woman pending next of kin notification.
