Deputies Investigate Social Media Threat Against Lake Weir Middle School

OCALA, Fla. — The District Office of Marion County Public Schools sent a Skylert message very early this morning, informing that Thursday evening local law enforcement investigated a threat posted on social media against Lake Weir Middle School.

Fortunately, they found zero credibility to that threat and the investigators said the entire situation focus on violence in a video game students planned to play at home.

The authorities said that this is an example of how violence, even related to a video game, can disrupt the entire school day.

One more time the law enforcement reminds all students, every conversation counts, even those where violence in a video game can be misinterpreted in many ways.

With this information, are two days in a row that the community in Marion County receives messages alerting of active law enforcement preventive labor due to possible threats in the Marion Public School.

Yesterday, the message was informing about a threatening image on social media that was not directed to any Marion County Public School, as the Official Twitter account of Marion County Public Schools posted.
