OKLAWAHA, Fla. — At 9:28 p.m. the Marion County Fire Rescue received a call regarding visible flames emerging from a local home. Arriving on the scene nearly eight minutes later, the tenants had evacuated the house safely, but the structure was burning quickly.
Flames emerged from the side, and front doors of the mobile home and the firefighters jumped into action immediately. The hose was drawn, and they entered the home aggressively.
Additional fire stations joined in to assist, which included the Weirsdale station #27, South Marion Station #6, Volunteer Station #26 and Shady Station #16. The blaze soon dissipated approximately fifteen minutes after the fire department arrived on the scene. The swift diminishment of the flame can be accredited to the aggressive work the stations produced together.
The residents and neighbors are reportedly unharmed, and two dogs were safely rescued and are currently recovering from the traumatizing event. Sadly, one dog is reported missing, and another has perished in the fire.
After further examination, the fire was determined to be a grease fire, and The American Red Cross was called in for additional assistance for the family.
