MOUNT DORA — City of Mount Dora Waste Management announced service changes effective October 1 for garbage and recycling pick-up.
Residential pick-up has been reduced to one day a week for both garbage and recycling. Residents who are in apartments or condominiums will not be affected by the change.
If pick-up day falls on a holiday, service will be switched to the following business day,
This new schedule will allow for the change to natural gas from the current diesel vehicles which are quieter and more environmentally friendly producing fewer emissions.
Another bonus for this new scheduling is expanded recyclables, which will now include: Paper, boxes, plastic containers, aluminum, steel, and glass.
Please remember to rinse out recyclable containers and do not include plastic bags or food waste products.
Residents can also expect a $1.94 reduction in monthly costs. New garbage carts will be available in 34, 65 or 96-gallon sizes and can be requested by calling 1-800-223-4825.
