LAKE COUNTY — Though the leaves and weather might not change, Lake County is home to great autumn annual events. October launches the fall season with happenings bursting full of activities to get your family out for some fresh air. If the heat is a bit overwhelming, there are unique experiences indoors that are excellent for escaping the warmth.
Fall in the Field: October 6-7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Mount Dora.
This particular event has something to offer for everyone in the family. The best dealers and crafters unite to give you a beautiful selection of home decor. After choosing a few rarities, the Rennigers pumpkin patch awaits you. Julie Hites brings you an excellent variety of heirloom pumpkins from Kenton, Ohio for the picking. The fun continues as you are invited to create make-it-and-take-it crafts at the pavilion. Face painting, music, and food round out this event for the entire family. Parking and admission are free, so come on out October 6 & 7 for a great time!
Lake County Folk Festival: October 6 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and October 7 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This festival is held in Ferran Park and will have craft and food vendors in attendance. The event is a free social and musical event that combines great talent and excellent food. Additionally, there will be a children’s area, so bring the whole family out for a great experience.
Paint Night at Lilly’s on the Lake: Monday nights at 7 p.m. in October.
Grab a friend or join your neighbors Monday nights for a relaxing afternoon of drinks and painting. Kids will need to sit this one out as this is an adult-aged event. Sign up at http://paintnite.com
A Lot of Pumpkins at Santa’s Christmas Tree Forest: Select days in October.
Bring your family out to an event that they will want to return for each year. Open on weekends, and select weekdays, this farm has horse and pony rides, ziplining, hayrides, a petting farm, and much more. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the array of activities, and do not forget to pick out your favorite pumpkin before heading out!
Not Too Scary Halloween Party: October 20 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
As Halloween nears, the kids will enjoy this age-appropriate gathering to celebrate the spooky season. Entry is free, though concessions will be available for purchase. Kids are encouraged to dress in their best costumes. The judges will vote for the best dressed and ribbons will be awarded!
