EUSTIS — From festivals and parties to conventions and showcases, the Lake County Fairgrounds & Event Center offers a wide variety of rental space. And now, it’s even easier to book a facility on-site.
The Lake County Office of Communications and the Information Technology Department designed a new, mobile-friendly website with an integrated reservation application and customized point-of-sale system to simplify the customer experience saving both staff-time and taxpayers’ dollars. The performance-optimized site, www.lakecountyevents.com, allows users to click on an interactive map when choosing the space they would like to rent and pay quickly and securely online via credit card.
“We had previously been using hand-written receipts with carbon copies, manually totaling reports and using boards to mark reserved spaces,” said Cole Scharlau, Fairgrounds and Event Center Manager. “The website has streamlined everything and given us a great place to send prospective market vendors and event customers. This site is a huge step up for the Fairgrounds; both for staff and customers. Integrating it into our operation has been a smooth transition.”
The site also features:
- Farmers’ Market Day map so visitors can easily locate vendors
- Video background produced in-house highlighting the Lake County Fair
- Reduction of load time through caching, image compression, and new image types
- Clean, streamlined design with consideration for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Integration with Fairgrounds workflow for greater efficiency
- Menu system that will be used across other websites to improve additional county services
The Fairgrounds & Event Center is the home of the annual Lake County Fair and weekly Farmers’ & Flea Market. It hosts various private and public events of varying size and function, including everything from private weddings to dog agility shows. The Center offers 30 acres available for public events, 48,250 square feet of covered building space and features more than 600 indoor and outdoor vendor spaces.
