FORT MCCOY — A Fort McCoy man was arrested for shooting his neighbor after an argument over their dogs according to deputies.
Marion County deputies responded to the Fort McCoy Library late Tuesday night after receiving a call from 70-year-old Christopher Robin Carpenter stating that he been involved in a shooting.
Carpenter told officers that he went to the victim’s house on NE 110th Court late Tuesday night after he was told his dog and the neighbor’s dogs had been fighting. When Carpenter arrived, the two began arguing at which time Carpenter reportedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim three times before fleeing the area.
Carpenter told deputies that he left the area and went to the library where he called 911 to report the shooting.
Carpenter was arrested and charged with attempted homicide when deputies arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wounds and later released.
Deputies recovered the firearm used by Carpenter and transported him to the Marion County Jail where he remains in lieu of a $25,000 bond
