MINNEOLA, Fla. – A Lake Minneola High School band teacher was arrested Wednesday afternoon after an investigation by the Lake County School Board found that 32-year-old Jon North was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with a student.
According to an arrest report, deputies were contacted by school board officials after conducting a full investigation into the allegations of the relationship between the teacher and student.

School board officials told deputies the male student admitted in an interview that he had been in a sexual relationship with North between November or December of 2015 through May of 2016.
The student reportedly told Lake Minneola High School Principal, Mrs. Shepard, that the relationship began as “benign texting” and progressed to a physical relationship where North and the student would perform oral sex on each other.
During an interview with North, the teacher reportedly admitted to the relationship with the student stating that the events normally occurred in a closet in the band room. North also told deputies that he had been in a previous relationship with another student but that it had been after that student turned 18.
North reportedly resigned from his position at the high school during the school board’s investigation.
North was arrested and charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was later released after posting a $25,000 bond.
North is scheduled to appear before a judge on August 14 at 8:30 am.
