Body Found on US Highway 27 from Possible Hit-and-Run

LEESBURG –  According to Leesburg Police, a body was found on the side of the road on US Highway 27 near Howard Road in Leesburg early Sunday morning just before 8:00 am.

According to the report, a passerby was driving northbound on US Hwy 27 when he observed the victim on the shoulder of the road. The passerby waited on scene until Leesburg Police and Lake EMS arrived to investigate.

The body was identified as Robert Glennon, a 37-year-old Leesburg man.

According to Lt. Iozzi of the Leesburg Police Department, it appears as though Glennon was walking on the northbound side of US Hwy 27 when he was struck by a vehicle.

Glennon was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The make and model of the vehicle that struck Glennon is unknown, however, Iozzi stated that the evidence suggests the vehicle will likely have damage to the front passenger side as well as the passenger mirror.

According to the investigators, the incident likely occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigators are taking other measures to determine the make, model, and color of the vehicle involved.
