BUSHNELL, Fla. – Sumter County deputies are calling the death of a 16-year-old girl found at a Bushnell home Sunday — a “homicide.”
The suspect has been identified as Larry Darnell Peavy, 35, of Bushnell, and warrants on charges of first-degree murder, sexual assault with a weapon or force, kidnap-false imprisonment has been taken out for his arrest, according to a sheriff’s press release.
Peavy was last seen driving a gray 1997 Nissan Sentra, that officials eventually located, unoccupied in the Fort Pierce area.
The girl, whom police found on the floor, was identified as Alea Jackson.
Michelle Keszey, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said deputies received a call from the Tavares Police Department for a well-being check about 2 p.m. Sunday for the girl at a home in the 300 block of South Pine Street in Bushnell.
According to a police report, another juvenile girl had showed up at a Tavares hospital and reported she had been raped at the Bushnell home and then someone named “Larry” dropped her off.
She added Jackson was still at the home, unconscious. Deputies arrived at the pink home and found the girl deceased.
No further details were given out on her or the case. However, Keszey did say in a phone interview Monday that the death has been determined a homicide. The police report added a neighbor said she saw Peavy drinking with two girls about 3 a.m. that morning, and they were “partying” and “appeared to be having a good time.”
The neighbor added she later saw Peavy leave the home about 8 a.m. with one of the females.
She was the second dead body found in Sumter County on Sunday that has been ruled a homicide.
