LEESBURG – Eyewitnesses report today that the Perkins Restaurant on Route 27 just South of Leesburg was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men overnight.
Witnesses say a female staff member who was leaving the building was accosted by two black males in ski masks and dark colored hoodies who jumped out from some bushes. The employee reportedly ran to attempt to call 911 and was beaten by the suspects.
The two men allegedly entered the restaurant and took all the money from the safe and the victims’ cell phones, and ran away on foot. Witnesses say the robbery took place at approximately 1:45 am as the restaurant was closing. Leesburg Police responded, and dogs reportedly got a good lead on which direction the men fled, but at this time no arrests have been made.
The victim was reportedly treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
