Careless Driver Causes Semi to Overturn, Traffic Backed up on I-75

WILDWOOD, Fla. — A careless driver was the cause of an accident that caused one semi truck to overturn onto its side resulting in traffic being backed up on Interstate 75 in Wildwood Friday afternoon at approximately 3:48 p.m. according to troopers.

In a report issued by the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers stated that the semi was traveling northbound on I-75 just north of the Florida Turnpike when a careless driver changed lanes directly into the path of the semi.

The driver of the semi, 30-year-old Davinder Singh, in order to avoid a collision with the other driver, abruptly steered into the outside lane. At that time, Singh lost control of the truck causing the truck to overturn and collide with a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 74-year-old Jackie Wade.

The vehicle that reportedly caused the incident continued to drive northbound after the collision and did not stop.

Both drivers were unable to get a description of the vehicle that caused the accident.

Singh was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center and Wade was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident and only suffered minor injuries according to the report.

Due to the semi-truck overturning, traffic was blocked on I-75’s center and outside northbound lanes for several hours.
