CLERMONT — The City of Clermont announced the formation of a new Youth Council program that gives Lake County High School students the opportunity to participate and learn more about City Government.
City Manager Darren Gray said, “We are excited about connecting with our younger citizens”.
A total of 10 students applied for the program; five from South Lake High School, three from Lake Minneola High School, and two from East Ridge High School.
Clermont City Clerk, and sponsor of the program, Tracy Ackroyd Howe, said she “hopes some will be inspired to pursue careers in public administration”.
The New Youth Council plans to meet for six months. They plan to collaborate with the departments on a project that will benefit them and present it to City Council. If approved, they will get to implement it.
