Clermont considered “Healthy Community Champion 2018”

Over the summer, the Florida Department of Health announced 46 “Healthy Community Champions” for 2018 and Clermont was named one of them.

In order to be considered for this honor, a community must have shown a commitment to improving the nutrition and increasing the physical activity of the lives of their residents. This includes the “places where people live, work and play, food environments, and other environmental influences.”

In addition to the obvious goals of improved health, another effect of these efforts is increased social connectedness, which the Centers for Disease Control consider a goal towards better health and a person’s sense of well being.
