TAVARES – Commissioner Timothy Sullivan was unanimously chosen to serve another year as the Lake County Board of County Commissioners Chairman and Commissioner Leslie Campione was tapped to serve another term as Vice Chairman during today’s board meeting.
“I think that we are very fortunate to have his leadership and his steadfastness and during Hurricane Irma he was ever-present,” said Commissioner Campione, who made the motion to re-appoint Commissioner Sullivan as chairman.
Chairman Sullivan is currently serving his second term on the County Commission representing District 1. He previously served as a City Commissioner and Mayor of Fruitland Park, and as a Lake County School Board member. He also was on the Board of Directors of the Central Florida Health Alliance for 12 years, and retired in 2009 as Brigadier General from the Florida Army National Guard, serving in the military for 33 years.
“It’s been a great year with a lot of transition,” said Chairman Sullivan shortly after delivering the State of the County address. “Thank you and I appreciate your confidence.”
Commissioner Campione, District 4, was first elected in 2010. A lawyer who owns her own practice, she has also worked as the City Attorney for Lady Lake, Montverde, and Umatilla. She has served the community as a Junior Achievement teacher, YMCA coach, and with the Eustis Service League, Leadership Lake County, Justice Teaching and Keep Lake Beautiful.
“I would like to say our leadership team of Commissioner Sullivan and Commissioner Campione has been very effective,” said Commissioner Wendy Breeden, District 3, who made the motion to re-appoint Commissioner Campione as Vice Chairman. “It’s been a pleasure serving this year with everybody – with the leadership.”
