CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — A Crystal River teen was pronounced dead after a crash early Monday morning according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Troopers responded to an area near the intersection of North Suncoast Boulevard and WHCR Limestone Trail in Crystal River at approximately 5:05 a.m., according to the report.
Upon arrival, responders found a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck that had collided with a tree.
Trooper Whitsel, the crash investigator, reported that the truck was traveling southbound on North Suncoast Boulevard just north of WHCR Limestone Trail when it suddenly left the roadway for an unknown reason and traveled through the grassy shoulder striking a fence before colliding with a tree.
19-year-old Albert Wisnewski, who was a passenger in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver, 20-year-old Nicholas Ownes, and another passenger, 29-year-old Timothy Hughes both suffered serious injuries. Owens was transported to Shands Hospital and Hughes was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A fourth passenger, 19-year-old Jakob Salute suffered critical injuries during the collision and was also transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
According to the report, no alcohol was involved and none of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
