DCF Monitoring Hurricane Irma to Determine Early Release of Food Stamp Benefits

FLORIDA – While Hurricane Irma makes her wy toward the Sunshine State, many residents are struggling to prepare by stocking up on water and non-perishable foods.

However, some residents who rely on Food Stamps are wondering if their benefits will be released early as DCF did last year during Hurricane Matthew.

The Department of Children and Families website announced in a notice that there has not been a decision whether or not benefits will be awarded early at this time.

Visitors who visit the site can see the notice on the site’s homepage.

Attention:

The department is closely monitoring Hurricane Irma. There is no change in Food Assistance issuance dates at this time. Please check back for further updates.

Central Florida Wire will closely monitor any changes and report them as soon as they are available.

UPDATE: DCF Announces Release of Food Stamp Benefits.
