Deputies Investigate Death of 9-month-old Child in Residential Daycare

CLERMONT, Fla. — Lake County deputies are investigating the death of 9-month old Zachary Jackson after daycare workers took the unresponsive child to a local medical care center.

According to deputies, Jackson was under the supervision of Dodd’s Family Daycare located at 14109 Summerset Court in Clermont at the time of the incident.

Reports state that an employee with the daycare took Jackson, who was unresponsive at the time, into the Clermont Care Center located at 15701 State Road 50 on July 17.

A worker at the medical care center contacted deputies stating that the child was brought in from the daycare located behind the medical center and medical staff began CPR on Jackson until EMS could arrive.

Jackson was then transported to South Lake Hospital and later flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of death.

Dodd’s Family Daycare is registered to Joseph and Debbie Dodd.

No charges have been filed at this time.
