LEESBURG – The disappearance of 2-year-old Trenton Duckett was a tragic incident that swept the nation with sadness. Ten years later, family and friends still gather around the fountain in front of Leesburg’s City Hall to light candles and pray for Trenton’s safe return. Each year family and friends hope its the last year they hold the vigil hoping Trenton would be found safe and returned to them. And each year people come from all over to show their support and share in the prayers.
This year marked ten years since Duckett’s mysterious disappearance. Over 50 people come out to support the family as they lit candles in the dark and bowed their heads for a moment of silence.
Trenton’s father, Josh Duckett, wears a dog tag style necklace with Trenton’s face etched into the metal. A reminder of hope.
One person who attended the vigil, a long time friend of Duckett, told us she did not know many of the people there Saturday night, showing just how much Trenton has touched the hearts of so many. People that knew the family well, and those who have never met them came together as one for one common goal. Keep hope alive so that one day, they may see Trenton again.
