OCALA – An early morning accident left one man dead according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The accident occurred just after 1:00 am Thursday morning on Interstate 75 (I-75) just south of exit 350 (Highway 200/College Road) in Ocala.
According to reports, 56-year-old Charles Eugene Ashmore was traveling northbound in his 2006 Chevrolet Uplander in the right lane just south of the Highway 200 exit when for an unknown reason Ashmore collided with a 2015 Jeep Liberty driven by 27-year-old Steven David Oker.
Ashmore’s vehicle then ran off of the road on the right side causing it to roll over and collide with a concrete exit sign.
Ashmore was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Oker did not suffer any injuries.
According to the report, charges are pending at this time.
