Bushnell Man Faces Charges in Fatal Accident in Inverness

INVERNESS – A Lecanto woman was pronounced dead after an accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on East Gulf to Lake Highway. The incident occurred just after 5:30 pm on Monday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Troy Lovett, a 44-year-old Bushnell man was traveling westbound on East Gulf to Lake Highway (SR 44) along with 31-year-old Autumn Larson in the passenger seat of his 2006 Ford F-150 when he attempted to make a u-turn at the intersection of SR 44 and South Tighe Drive.

While attempting the u-turn, Lovett entered the path of a 2008 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on SR 44. The driver of the motorcycle, 55-year-old Joel Talley, did not have enough time to react and collided with the passenger side of the F-150.

Talley was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and his passenger, 42-year-old Dani Plante, was transported to Citrus Memorial where she was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries from the accident. Neither Talley nor Plante was wearing helmets at the time of the incident.

The occupants of the F-150 were both wearing their seat belts and did not suffer any injuries.

According to the report, charges are pending and a homicide investigator will be assigned to the case for further investigation.
