Fatal Crash Claims Umatilla Motorcyclist

UMATILLA – Troopers responded to a scene where a 56-year-old unidentified motorcyclist was pronounced dead after his 2011 Harley Davidson left the roadway and struck a drainage ditch on State Road 19 near the intersection of Golden Gem Drive in Umatilla Sunday night.

According to FHP reports, the man was traveling south on SR 19 toward Golden Gem Drive at approximately 9:30 pm Sunday night when for some unknown reason, his motorcycle left the road.

After striking the drainage ditch, the man was thrown from his motorcycle.

He was transported to Central Florida Regional hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The identity of the man has not been released pending next of kin notification.

Troopers are not certain what caused the biker to lose control of his bike.

The incident is currently under investigation.
