CLERMONT — There was a fiery three-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 27 the evening of October 5. According to Florida Highway Patrol, last evening a forty two year old Groveland woman was killed due to the accident along with a man that was left seriously injured.
The driver was heading north on U.S. Highway 27 when she rear ended another car. The woman’s vehicle was pushed into the southbound lanes and resulted in a head on collision with a pickup truck. The second vehicle was driven by Adam Ortiz who was age 41 and a resident of Davenport.
Traffic was backed up for several hours as police and rescue crews tended to the accident. CPR was attempted on the woman, but she reportedly died on the scene. The man was airlifted in a medical helicopter and is in critical condition.
