FORT MCCOY, Fla. – A Fort McCoy man was pronounced dead after being ejected from his vehicle Monday evening according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Troopers responded to the scene on NE 170th Avenue Road Monday at approximately 5:30 p.m. where they found 48-year-old Rodney Edward Booth deceased, reports say.
According to the report, Booth was traveling southbound on NE 170th Avenue Road in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when for some unknown reason he traveled off of the roadway onto the right shoulder striking several small trees causing the vehicle to overturn.
At some point during the incident, Booth was ejected from his vehicle.
Booth, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Troopers are unsure of what caused Booth to leave the roadway. Tests to determine if alcohol was involved are still pending and the crash is still under investigation.
