GROVELAND – A 2-year-old boy was pronounced dead after drowning in Groveland Wednesday evening.
According to Sgt. Fred Jones of the Lake County Sherriff’s Office, deputies and paramedics responded to a home located at 9600 Dr. Baker Road in Groveland at approximately 6:00 pm Wednesday evening in reference to a call of a toddler found in shallow murky water behind the home.
According to the statement, a family friend performed CPR on the toddler until paramedics arrived and transported the boy to a local hospital.
The boy was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The name of the family has not been released and the incident is still being investigated. More information will be released as soon as it is available.
